Deck Planning
Before finalizing construction plans, consider what sort of deck would best suit you and your home. Do you want it at ground level, elevated or split-evel? What will you use it for? Do you want shade or sunlight? When you have answered these questions, you can start planning a deck with ACQ pressure treated wood that will give you pleasure for years to come.
After you have chosen a deck design and location, check with local officials concerning special building codes. A construction permit may be necessary, but do not apply for one until all planning has been finalized. Be certain that ACQ pressure treated wood is used in all the plans and that theses plans meet your local building codes before ordering treated lumber from McDiarmid.
You don't have to be a master carpenter to build a wood deck. All you need is one of McDiarmid Lumber's custom plans and a few basic supplies all included in our deck package!

Deck Plans
Here are four basic, easy to construct decks. They are perfect for an entrance deck, a backyard hideaway or as an addition to an existing deck.
10' x 14' Deck and 8' x 12' Deck
Build one of these simple decks where space is limited, or mix and match them to suit your taste and the space available.
Combination Deck
Using basic deck shapes and sizes, you can design a combination to fit your yard. Decks can be constructed around gardens, trees, or pools.
Split-level Deck
This deck is ideal for homes with elevated doors or steeply sloped yards. Post should be at least 3' into the ground. If the deck will be more than 4" from the ground, you should get professional advice.
Pergola Designs
Enhance the look of your deck with an overhead screen that provides both shade and privacy. A pergola is constructed similarly to a roof, except that the rafters are more prominent.
